Laundry  Detergent  Banned in  NYC

The substance of interest is known as 1,4-Dioxane. Along with the laundry soap, is also found in specific products for personal care and some cleaning products.

There was previously a limit on the quantity of 1,4-Dioxane a product can contain. The new law just lowers the amount from 2 parts-per million to 1 parts-per million.

The concentrations are typically higher in detergents because of how they're produced. Detergents made with dangerous chemicals.

NEW LAW APPLIED FOR LAUNDRY DETERGENT

In new law, manufacturers can get an exemption of one year from the requirement if they prove that they're working hard to decrease the levels of this chemical.

NEW LAW APPLIED FOR LAUNDRY DETERGENT

New law will require home cleaners to contain at least 2-PPM 1,4-Dioxane. The limit will be reduced to a maximum of one PPM at the end of 2023.
